About

I met Sara last Fringe when I provided some music for the play Happy Hour. One thing that came out of that was an amazing full performance of one of the songs I had written that made it almost seem like it had been planned to fit that way from the beginning. As an indie artist, it's hard to think of a more delightful and rewarding experience than to see someone take something you created, reinterpret it, and bring it to a whole new level.

So when Sara asked about having me mix/master her own EP, I jumped at the chance, even before hearing any of the songs. I couldn't imagine them not being as creative as the energy she brought to the theatre stage.

These are first and foremost some great songs, and one of the secrets to a good mix is to start with that. Great lines and a great performance are hard to beat. It was a first in many ways for me: mixing someone else's project, collaborating under our new pandemic reality, and really just figuring out how to use my bag of tools and tricks to help someone else achieve a really clear vision.

I have my favourites: All of Us in the Fire is probably at the top of my list with some killer lyrics and unrelenting tension. But then there's the broody, pulsating Point of View. Or the upbeat synth pop stylings of Haunted. Or Gravity's spacy wall of sound. All of them tied together by Sara's fantastic vocal performances. But stop listening to me talk about it... check it out for yourself!
